Offers for Parents

Parents’ café and preparing fruits

Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 until 8:45 am, parents are warmly invited to the parents’ café. In Mensa 1 parents have the opportunity to have a chat with a cup of coffee or tea.

At the same time, a few parents prepare fruits for the kids in Mensa 1. Afterwards they distribute it to the classes and share a cup of coffee or tea. Help is always welcome.

Language classes for mothers

Every Wednesday and Thursday, from 9:30 until 11:30 am, there is a language class for mothers in Mensa 2. The class is given by one of the mothers from our school, who speaks German and Arabic really well. The class is not a certificate course. It is rather to improve German in everyday life. Women learn to speak, read, and write German together.

Next to learning German, the class is a great place to get together and meet one another. Every now and then the group also shares a breakfast or cooks and dances together. Every mother who wants to improve her German, is warmly invited – no matter which language she speaks or what language skills she has.

Backpack school

Backpack school is a program for learning parents who want to learn some formal language which is use at school. The program is made for parents with and without an international family background. This is a cooperation with the communal integration center NRW which enables us to participate in this program.

Once a week the parent-associate meets with the participating parents. She was educated especially for this program, by the communal integration center NRW.

In this program parents learn how they can support their children in doing homework for their general and academic development. Backpack school picks up topics from their classes. Materials, technical terms, and exercises are explained to the parents enabling them to discuss school topics with their children in German or in their family language.
